A trove of vivid magic props from the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s will be featured in a special auction on May 29 to benefit Parent Assembly #1. These unique items are from the working act of magician Frank Clinton and his daughter Janet Clinton. Stage illusions, parlor effects, children’s magic, and much more are included. Many of these items rarely come up for sale. The auction will also include posters, books, programs, other tricks and more. Please scroll down and click to go through the gallery of items included (keep checking, as we are regularly adding more items.) Make sure to join us for this exciting – and free – event.

Hosted by Joshua Jay
Fresh from the run of his acclaimed show Look Closer in New York and Chicago accomplished magician (and Parent Assembly member) Joshua Jay is the host of our special event. Josh and Parent Assembly President, Joe Devlin will be the evening’s auctioneers.

Policies and Details
Many of the Clinton items come with period custom-made wooden cases. These are convenient for protecting the items but they do add weight and bulk. Some of the items are large. All items purchased must be transported off premises by the winning bidder the night of the event (consider Uber/Lyft as one option). Each bidder will be asked to register between 6 and 7 pm and receive a bidding paddle. There is no buyer’s premium. NY State sales tax is required and will be applied. Payment is by cash or credit card only. This will be an in-person only event. Seating is limited. Check this site frequently for more items and updates.

Parent Assembly #1, is the New York City chapter of the Society of American Magicians. Its roots go back to the 1902 founding of the S.A.M. Each year PA#1 spearheads numerous activities to support magic and provide resources to its members. For example for 115 years it has presented the stellar Salute to Magic show, and it also offers lectures, workshops, member shows, history talks, collector’s events, and much more. Perhaps most importantly the club consists of a group of compeers who bond over the art of magic and support each other to achieve common goals.

Below are a sampling of items that will be included in the sale. Click any item to scroll through the gallery. Check back soon for more items and a listing by lot numbers. Most of the Clinton items come in wood cases, not shown, that add to their size for transporting.
