Virtual 111th Annual Salute to Magic! September 3rd, 2020 8pm

Despite the postponement of our show earlier this year, our Salute to Magic committee, chaired by First Vice President Sterling Lee, was determined to keep the 111-year-old tradition intact. The 2020 virtual Salute will feature performances by Kayla Drescher, Harrison Lampert, and Lefty Leferovich, three acclaimed magicians who regularly perform on Vegas stages, on shows like Penn & Teller: Fool Us, and at the Magic Castle. The show will also feature a performance by our Magician of the Year, Joshua Jay, and we will honor Josh for his many contributions to magic. This is going to be a great evening. Kayla Drescher has performed for clients all over the nation, including Microsoft, IBM, CBS Interactive, Lyndon State College, Castleton College, The Make-a-Wish Foundation, and much more!  She has toured extensively with the Champions of Magic stage show and also appeared on television numerous times, including Penn & Teller: Fool UsMidday MarylandVentaneando-Mexico’s #1 Talk Show, and NBC’s Today show,” where she won David Copperfield’s “Search for the Next Great Magician.”

Andi Gladwin is a world-class close-up sleight of hand magician who has performed all over the world at prestigious events such as on the world’s most expensive private yacht over New Year’s Eve, a Las Vegas television special and even in Washington, DC for President Obama’s Inauguration. He and Joshua Jay founded and run Vanishing, Inc. Magic, one of the world’s most prominent magic companies, and they also produce the Magifest and The Session magic conferences. Andi has appeared on television shows including Penn & Teller: Fool Us, has been a columnist for Genii magazine, and is the author of such books as Going Pro, Blomberg Laboratories, and Jack Parker’s 52 Memories. He has released a number of videos for the magic community including his influential work on The Master Pushoff.

Joshua Jay is a mutifaceted performer, author, porducer, and creator who is at the forefront of today’s magic scene. He has performed on stages in over 100 countries, including a long New York City run of his one-man show Six Impossible Things. Joshua was awarded the top prize at the World Magic Seminar and has fooled Penn and Teller on their hit show, Fool Us. He holds a Guinness World Record in card magic. He has performed magic on numerous television shows, most recently Good Morning America, Today, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

He is the author of MAGIC: The Complete CourseThe Amazing Book of Cards, and, for children, Big Magic for Little Hands.

He has designed illusions for stage and screen, including a recent collaboration with HBO for Game of Thrones. Joshua consulted with the United States Postal Service on the design of their postage stamp series, Magic.

Joshua appeared at the 2008 Inaugural Ball for President Barack Obama, and has also delivered private performances for Presidents Clinton and Trump.

Together with his partner Andi Gladwin, Josh runs Vanishing Inc. Magic, and produces the annual Magifest and The Session magic conferences.

Harrison Lampert is an actor, comedian, and magician originally from Philadelphia. He is a regular performer in the Close up Gallery at The Magic Castle, and is an alumnus of The Groundlings Sunday Company, where he performs improv regularly. He has taught magic privately and is one of the instructors in The Magic Castle’s Magic University.

Douglas Leferovich has been a member of Parent Assembly for 31 years, starting at age 16.  He became fascinated by magic at age 4 and eventually with his father and brother began performing locally as “Magic by the 3 L’s.” After college, Douglas helped create the visual comedy and magic act called The Gamesters. For the next five years, he toured the world performing in magic and variety shows and making several international TV appearances, including performances for the Princess of Thailand, for Michael Jackson at his Neverland Ranch, and at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. He also was a member of a hand-picked team that vanished the Tower Bridge in London, England for a BBC Television special and was part of the design team of magic effects for music artists such as Jay-Z and Michael Jackson for their world tours. 

Over the past 10 years, Douglas has emerged as a force in Las Vegas entertainment. Whether consulting on over a dozen headline shows in Las Vegas (which include work for Boyz II Men, Meat Loaf, The Jacksons, and Wayne Newton to name a few) or performing in the Strip’s major casinos and hotels (Palms, Rio, Riviera, Frontier, Flamingo, Planet Hollywood, and currently guest starring in a show at Tropicana Resort Casino), Douglas has added his own special magical touch to many of the shows that audiences enjoy when they come to the entertainment capital of the world.
